Rachael & Jesse's Wedding

For our reception, we definitely wanted something low-key. In fact, "low-key" was the phrase we kept repeating to ourselves over and over again while planning the wedding to remind ourselves to keep things manageable.

There really wasn't a whole lot of discussion about where to have the reception -- we are both fond of Garibaldi's On College restaurant, and after evaluating a few other options, we settled on that. Our basic premise was that we really didn't want buffet-style food, cooked up by caterers hours ahead of time and kept warm on bunsen burners.

Garibaldi's quoted us a price that let our guests pick from a subset of the regular menu, without knowing in advance who was having what kind of dish. Especially important to us was that Garibaldi's famous Filet Mignon was available for our guests, and in fact almost everyone at the reception ordered it.

The price we were quoted per-person included appetizers, an entree, a dessert sampler platter, and a half-bottle of wine. Garibaldi's also allowed us to bring several bottles of our own favorite wine (Swanson Merlot) without charging us a corkage fee, even though they sold the same wine for about twice as much as we purchased it for.
